St Antony's
Priory extends a warm welcome to individuals and
small groups wishing to benefit from its calm atmosphere and the gift of
space away from the ongoing busyness of daily life.
Located almost in the center
of Durham City, England, the Priory captures a magnificent panorama of
the Cathedral and Castle, viewed from its pleasant gardens. It offers a
peaceful opportunity for those seeking relaxation and refreshment.
Formerly the vicarage of St
Nicholas Parish Church in the city marketplace, the 150-year-old house
been developed into the Ecumenical Spirituality Centre, resourcing the whole of the
north-east of England and further afield.
The Centre's small ecumenical
team provides hospitality and weekday worship as well as:
-
An
annual programme of quiet days and workshops led by individuals
drawn from differing denominations and none;
-
Prayer guiding by women and men from different
denominations and trained in spiritual direction;
-
Hosting
and facilitating quiet days and workshops for small groups of
clergy, lay people, chaplaincy teams and others;
-
Space for individuals or
small groups;
-
Helping develop the work
of the North-East Prayer Guides Network, an ecumenical group
committed to working together in a shared ministry of prayer
guiding;
-
Individually-guided retreats by request;
-
Space for a day or more in personal prayer, contemplation,
counselling and spiritual guidance.

Crafting Our Prayers
A day using the paper-crafting
techniques to design prayers and facilitate quiet reflection and
activity. (No previous experience of paper-crafting is necessary.)
Meg Gilley
has found the art of paper-craft a powerful tool for reflection and
journaling.

Paul Wilson ran a
successful workshop at the Priory on September 27. A group
wrestled with some of the more perplexing questions which face
the enquiring mind today concerning the issue of salvation and
the possibility of eternal damnation
